IIT Madras Invites Public to Witness State-of-the-Art Research Facilities

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has invited the public to visit its state-of-the-art labs during the Institute Open House 2024. This event, a part of the ‘Anaivarukkum IITM’ (IITM for everyone) campaign, is scheduled to take place on the campus on March 2 and 3, 2024. To participate in this annual event, dubbed ‘IITM for All,’ prospective attendees must complete their registration by February 29, 2024, at shaastra.org/register. They must note that registration is a prerequisite for campus entry.

Additionally, the Centre For Innovation (CFI) at IIT Madras, recognised as one of India's most extensive student-operated organisations, will host the CFI Open House 2024 on March 3, which the public is welcome to attend. This exhibition aims to display the laboratories and the Centres of Excellence (CoEs), promoting widespread knowledge of state-of-the-art technology. 

The Institute encourages individuals passionate about technology, students, and anyone with a curious mind from various backgrounds to dive into the world of advanced technological innovations. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with leading researchers, engage in the latest technological developments, and explore the boundless opportunities within the realms of science and technology.

Highlights of IITM for All

The highlights of the 'IITM for All' expo include an array of engaging and innovative spaces such as a Robotics laboratory, Biomedical Engineering laboratories, a facility dedicated to Rockets and missiles, Ballistic and High-speed flow laboratories, a comprehensive 360 Degree Full Bridge ship Simulator, an Electric Vehicle Fun Event, a Cardiovascular Genetics Laboratory, research on lab-grown diamonds, the CFI Open House, and state-of-the-art 3D printing capabilities, among various other attractions.

Urging the public to visit the labs during this expo, Prof. Sathyanarayana N Gummadi, Dean (Students), IIT Madras, said, “This is one such initiative of the students, which institute is fully supporting to showcase IIT Madras’ advanced laboratories to the general public. I believe this will be an opportunity for all to visit the beautiful campus and motive the young generation who will be the leaders in the future”.
