IIT Madras Launches Web-Enabled MTech in AI for Working Professionals; Apply by May 31

IIT Madras has launched a web-enabled M.Tech program in AI for working professionals. Candidates can fill out applications till May 31 and classes are set to begin in August/September 2025.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has introduced a new Web-Enabled MTech (Web M.Tech) program in Artificial Intelligence, expanding its offerings to meet the rising demand for AI expertise. Designed for working professionals looking to upskill while continuing their careers, the program is open for applications across all 11 Web M.Tech disciplines, including the newly launched AI specialisation.

The application deadline for the IIT Madras Web-Enabled MTech program in Artificial Intelligence is May 31, 2025. Further, the classes commencing in August/September 2025. Who are eligible for IIT Madras Web-Enabled MTech in AI?

As mentioned on the official website, applicants with at least two years of relevant work experience and a suitable educational background for each specialisation will be eligible to apply for the IITM Web-Enabled MTech program in Artificial Intelligence. The selection process will include an entrance test focused on discipline-specific topics and/or interviews.

Speaking about the course, Prof. B. Ravindran, Head, Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI, IIT Madras, said, “The Web M.Tech program allows professionals to earn a Master’s degree from IIT Madras with the flexibility of attending live virtual evening/weekend classes and accessing recorded sessions, ensuring learning is seamlessly integrated into their work schedules.”

Further elaborating on the importance of this new program, its Coordinator, Prof Sridharakumar Narasimhan, Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI, IIT Madras, said, “This course will cater to the high demand of AI professionals in the market. Assessments include remote-proctored interim evaluations and center-based end-semester exams. Students can also undertake projects within their work domain, making the learning experience directly applicable to their professional roles.”
