The courses will prepare students for a career in mutual funds, equity derivatives, digital banking, securities operations and risk management.

IIT Madras Pravartak Foundation, the technology innovation hub of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, is offering seven industry-relevant upskilling courses for students to build a career in banking and finance. The courses are being offered in collaboration with Digital Skills Academy, an initiative of IIT Madras, with InFactPro, a finance sector certified trainer in Chennai.

V Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras and Chairman, IIT Madras Pravarthak Foundation, said, “Education is a continuous process, students and professionals have to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills to stay competitive at work. Learning is a life-long process. These courses will reach learners from all parts of our country and particularly, the remotest part of India where outreach of digital literacy is minimal, and will help everyone to stay ahead in the chosen career journeys.”

Who all can take the course?

All learners who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree or have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and with a passion to excel in the BFSI domain are eligible to take these certification courses. Students who opt for these certification courses will be able to write the various certification exams conducted by NISM, NSE, BSE and IIBF.

K Mangala Sunder, Principal Coordinator of Digital Skills Academy, Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), IIT Madras, said, “These certification courses provide an in-depth understanding of principles of banking and finance, mutual funds, equity derivatives, digital banking, securities operations and risk management. IIT Madras Digital Skills Academy has joined IITM Pravartak and aims to impart industry-relevant skills and provide employable women and men for the BFSI sector.” IIT Madras’ Digital Skills Academy (DSA) has been offering online training programmes with more than 25 courses since 2018 with the expert guidance of NASSCOM IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council.
