IIT Patna to start four-year B.Tech in Engineering Physics

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna will be starting with a four-year B.Tech programme in Engineering Physics from the upcoming academic session. The institute offers undergraduate engineering courses in eight disciplines.

This year, the Department of Physics at IIT Patna is starting a 4-year programme, namely, B.Tech in Engineering Physics. This program is designed to provide an in-depth exposure to students in basic and applied physics.

The institute is also planning to offer B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science from this year.

IIT Patna is currently offering B.Tech Programme in eight disciplines, which are Computer Science and Engineering; Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Chemical Science & Technology; Chemical Engineering; Metallurgical and Materials Engineering; AI and Data Science and Engineering Physics.

Students are admitted to the B.Tech programme through IIT-JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). The B.Tech programme consists of eight semesters spread over four academic years. For B.Tech students with financially weak backgrounds, Merit-cum-Means Scholarships are provided by the institute on merit.

In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2021, under the Ministry of Education, IIT Patna has been ranked 51st in the overall ranking, while among engineering institutes, IIT-Patna has been ranked 21st. The institute offers BTech, MTech, MSc and PhD courses across various departments of study.
