IIT Roorkee Hosts Awareness Programme on MSME Innovative (Design) Scheme: Industry-Academia Interface

The Department of Design at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) partnered with the Design Innovation Center, IIT Roorkee, Bhagwanpur Industries Association (BIA) in Haridwar, and DFO, MSME Haldwani to conduct an Awareness Programme on the 'MSME Innovative (Design) Scheme: Industry-Academia Interface’. This initiative seeks to unite the Indian manufacturing sector with design expertise and the design community on a shared platform. Its primary goal is to offer expert guidance and cost-effective solutions for real-time design challenges, new product development, and continuous enhancement and value addition to both existing and new products.

Experienced designers will offer expert guidance for both developing new products and elevating the current product lineup. Previously, an MoU was established between the Ministry of MSME, GOI, and IIT Roorkee on June 7, 2022. According to this MoU, the ministry has designated IIT Roorkee as the Implementing Agency to drive the promotion of the MSME Innovative (Design) Scheme.

Prof. Apurbba Kumar Sharma, Dean of Academic Affairs, IIT Roorkee, said, "We are thankful to the Ministry of MSME for empanelling IIT Roorkee for a long-term collaboration by providing an enabling platform, whereby MSMEs of the country can approach IIT Roorkee through a structured process for enhancing their product portfolio."
