IITGN to hold lecture on ‘sacred mapping in pre-colonial literature’
The lecture will survey a few pre-colonial, pan-Indian and regional works of literature to understand the practice of sacred mapping.
The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is going to hold a lecture titled “Sacred mapping and Meaning-making in pre-colonial Indian literature” by Arya Adityan tomorrow (March 17, 2022) under the lecture series of the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) elective course.
Adityan is an alumna of IIT Gandhinagar who completed her MA programme in Society and Culture from IITGN. She is currently pursuing her PhD from the Department of Religion at Florida State University. The lecture will survey a few pre-colonial, pan-Indian and regional works of literature to understand the practice of sacred mapping.
Who can participate?
This is the sixth edition of the Introduction to Indian Knowledge Systems elective course, IKS 2022, which is being held online on the theme ‘Precolonial India’s Treasure House of Literatures’. The course is open to students and anyone interested in India’s knowledge systems and cultural heritage. They can join the course for free by registering online at http://iks.iitgn.ac.in/.
Curiosity programme to train 75K KGBV girls in STEM education
To encourage girl students to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), the Centre for Creative Learning (CCL) at the IITGN, in collaboration with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Government of Uttar Pradesh (UP), has started a specially designed programme called ‘Curiosity’ for 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) of the state. The programme aims at improving science education by widening the horizon for students and teachers beyond the textbooks and curriculum.
