JEE Advanced 2023: IIT Guwahati revises registration fee for foreign nationals

Students belonging to Overseas Citizen of India/ Person of Indian Origin (OCI/PIO) categories will have to pay the same registration fee as Indian national candidates. The online registration window for JEE Advanced 2023 will open on 30 April 2023. 

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced fee for Overseas Citizen of India/ Person of Indian Origin (OCI/PIO) students who are seeking admission in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) has been revised. 

According to the new registration fee, foreign nationals will have to pay the same registration fee as Indian national candidates. The JEE Advanced examination 2023 for both paper 1 and 2 is scheduled to be held on June 4, 2023. This year, the JEE Advanced will be conducted by IIT Guwahati. 

However, foreign national students can directly appear for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam. They are not required to sit for the JEE Main 2023 The new rule, which is applied to foreign national students, states that OCI and PIO students, including those studying in India, can directly register to appear for the JEE Advanced exam 2023. 

Additionally, during the seat allocation process for IITs, the eligible OCI and PIO candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced 2023 will be eligible to compete for the Open category seats in the General (GEN) and GEN-Person with Disability (PwD) categories as applicable. 

What the new rule says  

"All foreign national candidates will be considered in addition to, and not as a part of the 2,50,000 Indian national candidates who qualify for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2023," it said.  

This new rule will allow OCI or PIO students to get admission to IITs through the 10 per cent supernumerary seats, which have been created for foreign nationals and not through the general pool of seats for Indian students. The online registration window for JEE Advanced 2023 will open on 30 April 2023.
