JEE Main 2023: Bombay HC to hear plea on 75% eligibility criteria today
As per the public interest litigation, JEE Main aspirants have asked for 75 per cent and top 20 percentile criteria to be removed or lowered to 50 per cent in this year's entrance exam.
The Bombay High Court will hear the plea challenging JEE Main 75 per cent eligibility criterion today (April 6). As per the public interest litigation (PIL), JEE Main aspirants have asked for 75 per cent and top 20 percentile criteria to be removed or lowered to 50 per cent in this year's entrance exam.
The PIL stated, “The marks scored by them is not a true reflection of their actual ability therefore those students with less marks than the eligibility criteria (75%) for this year’s examinations can score very high marks in the upcoming JEE Main 2023, and if a fair chance is denied to them that will affect the future (of) lakhs of bright (students).” “#JEE matter on 75% /top 20 percentile criteria listed at sr. no. 46 on 6th April at Mumbai HC before the bench of Hon,ble Chief Justice,” read a tweet posted by child rights activist Anubha Srivastava Sahai.
According to the JEE Main 2023 information brochure released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), apart from the All-India rank of the candidate in the national entrance test for engineering admissions, the aspirants are required to score 75 per cent and above in Class 12 or figured among the top 20 percentile candidates of the respective board in order to become eligible for admission. For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, the qualifying aggregate score was declared 65 per cent and above.
