JEE Main 2023 postponement: The petition filed by activist Anubha Srivastava Sahai demands JEE Main first session be deferred and 75 per cent eligibility criterion be removed.

The Bombay High Court today adjourned the case on the plea seeking postponement of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023. The next hearing has been scheduled for January 10, 2023.

The matter was heard by the bench comprising Acting Chief Justice of Bombay HC SV Gangarpurwala and Justice Sandeep V Marne. The Bombay High Court has given the petitioner more time to file the brochure for the JEE Main 2023 exam on record. Apart from rescheduling JEE Main 2023 first session, the public interest litigation (PIL) has also requested the National testing Agency (NTA) to remove the 75 per cent eligibility criterion.

The petition was filed by activist Anubha Srivastava Sahai on December 26. It states that the Class 12 pre-board exams, viva voce of CBSE, ICSE and other state boards are scheduled to be held in January. The clash between JEE Main 2023 and Class 12 pre-board exams will result in less number of students appearing for JEE Main 2023 Session 1. The plea also mentions that the notification for the JEE Mains exam was issued on short notice and same would cause difficulties to students.

The JEE Main 2023 first session is scheduled to be held between January 24 and 31, 2023, while the JEE Main second session is scheduled between April 6 and 12, 2023.
