JEE Main is one of the most challenging and competitive exams in India. More than 10 lakh students aspire to ace this exam, with dreams of getting into top engineering colleges in India. The success of these toppers is often attributed to their disciplined study routines, effective strategies, and unwavering dedication. Shiksha spoke Saksham Jindal, Atharv Kulkarni and Sakshi Kumari, all JEE Main 2025 toppers to know what made them ace the exam with such an astounding score.

Saksham Jindal, one of the JEE Main 2025 topper who secured 100 percentile says, “I started preparing for JEE Mains from class 10. My focus was clear – to get a good score in the exam.”

One common trait among JEE Main toppers is their early start in preparation. Many begin their journey as early as Class 9 or 10, gradually building a strong foundation in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. This early start allows them to cover the vast syllabus thoroughly and leaves ample time for revision and practice.

Atharv Kulkarni, JEE Main 2025 topper with 99.71 percentile made a fixed time table and devoted at least 4-6 hours daily specifically for JEE preparation.

Toppers follow a well-structured study plan that balances school, coaching classes, and self-study. They allocate specific hours to each subject daily, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the syllabus. For instance, a typical day might include 2-3 hours of Mathematics, 2 hours of Physics, and 2 hours of Chemistry. This disciplined approach helps them stay on track and avoid last-minute cramming.

Sakshi Kumari, who secured an impressive 99.75 percentile in JEE Main 2025 says, “I devoted a lot of time for practicing mock tests and previous year papers during the last days of exam.”

Practice is the key to success in JEE Main. Toppers solve numerous practice papers, previous years’ question papers, and take regular mock tests. These tests help them identify their strengths and weaknesses, improve their time management skills, and build exam temperament. For example, Sai Manogna Guthikonda, one of the 2025 toppers, mentioned that she devoted 12 hours daily to preparation, including extensive practice sessions1.

How good are NCERT for JEE Mains

Almost 90% students who aced the exam with good numbers began their preparation with NCERT. This alone signifies the importance of NCERT. A significant part of their preparation involves mastering the NCERT textbooks. Toppers emphasize understanding concepts rather than rote learning. They delve deep into each topic, ensuring they grasp the underlying principles. This conceptual clarity is crucial for solving complex problems and tackling tricky questions in the exam.
