NTA has reduced the total number of questions to 75, cutting down 5 questions from each subject in Paper 1 (BE/BTech). Similarly, 5 questions from Mathematics section of Paper 2A (BArch) and Paper 2B (BPlan) have also been reduced. Also, there will be no optional question in section B of the JEE Main 2025 exam.

NTA has announced a major change in the JEE Main 2025 exam. The National Testing Agency has notified the discontinuation of the option facility in section B of the examination. Subsequently, the total number of questions in JEE Mains exam will now reduce to 75 from the existing 90 questions in Paper 1 (BE/BTech). For Paper 2A and 2B, the questions only from the Mathematics section has been reduced.

The NTA has also announced that JEE Main 2025 registration will begin soon. Details about JEE Main 2025 exam dates will be notified shortly. 

The NTA notification states that section B of the JEE Mains 2025 examination will have only 5 questions per subject, and candidates will be required to attempt all 5 questions without any selection options.

The new JEE Main 2025 exam pattern with complete details of changes, marking scheme, total number of questions will be released through the JEE Main 2025 information brochure. The brochure will be available soon on the JEE Main website - jeemain.nta.nic.in.

As per the notification, the facility of optional questions in section B of JEE Mains examination was introduced as a temporary measure to accommodate the changes in syllabus of several class 12 board examinations due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Q:   What type of questions are asked in JEE Main?

A:

The JEE Main question paper will have questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as per the prescribed syllabus. Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any 05 (five) questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B. For each question in Section B.A. Candidate has to enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in the place designated to enter the answer. For Section B, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

Q:   How many questions are asked in JEE Main exam?

A:

The JEE Main exam will have a total of 75 questions from all three subjects. The exam will have 25 questions each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of 25 questions, 20 will be multiple choice questions and 5 will be questions with numerical value answers. Students need to answer all 5 numerical value type questions. Also all 20 multiple choices questions are compulsory and no choice is provided in them. Students need to complete all the 75 questions in 3 hours.

Q:   Do I need to attempt all the questions in JEE Main exam?

A:

Yes, it is compulsory to attempt all the question in exam. Students need to attempt a total of 75 questions in the exam. Students are advised to attempt only those questions for which they can arrive at the answer/solutions. Questions for which the answer is not sure should be left as incorrect answer would lead to negative marking. Students must note that there are no minimum marks in JEE Main that students need to score. Students gets All India Rank based on the marks they secure in exam and gets admission based on that rank.
