The expected cutoff marks for the JEE Main candidates to qualify for JEE Advanced 2026 is as follows:

The shift 1 of JEE Mains 2026 exam tomorrow will start at 9 am. The cabdidates scheduled in shift 1 have to report to the center at 7 am and the gates will close at 8:30 am.

The JEE Main 2026 April 2 exam was rated as overall Moderate in difficulty, with many candidates finding it easier than the January session. Maths has been rated as moderate and lengthy. While chemistry has been easy for most candidates. On the other hand, Physics remained moderate and formula based.

NTA will conduct the second day of JEE Mains April attempt tomorrow, April 4. The exam will be held in two shifts. Check exam day guidelines below:

• Blank paper sheets for rough work will be provided in the examination room

• Candidates must write their name and roll number at the top of the sheet and return the sheets and admit card to the Invigilator, before leaving the examination hall

• Candidates will have to sit in the seat allocated to them

• Candidates will be allowed to appear at the allotted venue of the test only

• Wearing a watch inside the exam hall is not allowed

• Leaving the exam hall before closure/end of the exam is not permitted

NTA has officially notified that the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 results will be declared on or before April 20. Along with the results, the NTA will release the All India Ranks (AIR) and the final cutoff scores required to qualify for the JEE Advanced 2026 examination.

In the JEE Mains April 2 Shift 2 exam, most students managed 10-15 questions in Mathematics due to the time crunch. Overall, maximum attempts rarely crossed the 60-question mark for the majority.

The trend from the April 2 JEE Mains exam suggests that the NTA is maintaining a highly balanced paper. Future shifts will likely follow the same trend: an easy Chemistry section, a formula-driven Physics section, and a lengthy but doable Mathematics paper.

Candidates are advised to stick to high-weightage topics and prioritise accuracy over blind guessing.

The next exam of JEE Mains 2026 session 2 is tomorrow, April 4. The exam will be held in two shifts for paper 1 (BE/BTech) candidates. The shift 1 will be held from 9 am to 12 noon and the paper 2 from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Coordination Compounds, Chemical Bonding, General Organic Chemistry (GOC), Amines, Chemical Kinetics, and Ionic Equilibrium, with a strong focus on inorganic and formula-based physical questions.

As expected, the Mathematics section in Shift 1 was the most time-consuming. However, students noted that it was more manageable compared to the January session. The section heavily featured questions from Calculus, Vectors & 3D Geometry, and Coordinate Geometry. While the calculations were intensive, the underlying concepts were not overly tricky.

The Physics section in the morning shift was rated as easy to moderate. Questions were mostly standard and formula-based but required some calculation. Topics like Thermodynamics, Electromagnetism, and Wave Optics carried significant weightage. Students who had a strong grip on their formulas found this section highly scoring and manageable within the allotted time.

According to the initial student reactions, Chemistry was the highest-scoring and easiest section in the April 2 Shift 1 exam. Many students were able to complete this section in just 40 to 50 minutes. The questions were largely NCERT-based and straightforward, allowing candidates to save valuable time for the lengthy Mathematics section.

Students who appeared for the JEE Main April 2 Shift 1 exam found the overall paper to be of moderate difficulty. Compared to the January session, many candidates felt the paper was easier and well-balanced. Mathematics was slightly lengthy but doable, while Chemistry and Physics were on the easier side.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has successfully concluded both shifts of the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exams on April 2. Shift 1 was held from 9 AM to 12 PM, and Shift 2 took place from 3 PM to 6 PM. Overall, candidates reported that the difficulty level was moderate, with Shift 2 being slightly tougher than the morning session.

Integration (3-4 questions), Vector & 3D Geometry (2-3 questions), Coordinate Geometry (2-3 questions), Matrices/Determinants, and Probability.

Because Shift 2 was tougher, the marks required for a high percentile may be lower than in Shift 1. Experts estimate that a score of 180 to 195 in Shift 1 and 165 to 180 in Shift 2 could land a student in the 99 percentile.

Math was the toughest and lengthiest part of the day. While Shift 1 was considered "doable" by some, Shift 2 was notoriously difficult, with heavy weightage on Vectors, 3D Geometry, and Calculus requiring multi-step solutions.

Chemistry was the easiest section, staying very close to NCERT textbooks. Organic and Inorganic Chemistry dominated the MCQ section, while Physical Chemistry was mostly confined to the numerical-integer type questions with moderate calculations.

Physics remained easy to moderate and formula-based. Shift 1 focused heavily on Class 11 topics like Thermodynamics and Gravitation. Shift 2 leaned more toward Class 12, featuring Electrostatics, Magnetism, and Modern Physics.

The April 2 exam was generally moderate. Shift 1 was balanced and felt slightly easier than the January session, while Shift 2 was tougher due to a tricky and time-consuming Mathematics section.

NTA resolves tie among students having same total percentile score in the following order

1. NTA score in Mathematics
2. NTA score in Physics
3. NTA score in Chemistry
4. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the test
5. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Mathematics in the test
6. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the test
7. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the test
8. If there is a tie even after this, candidates will be assigned the same rank.

The Physics section of the JEE Main 2026 (April 2, Shift 2) exam featured a balanced mix of topics. Optics was the most prominent with 3 questions, followed by Fluid Mechanics and Rotational Motion (specifically Moment of Inertia) with 2 questions each. Other key topics included Modern Physics (Binding Energy), Kinematics, Gravitation, Capacitance, Semiconductors, and fundamental concepts like Units & Dimensions and Current Electricity (Power).

Early expert analysis suggests that scoring around 170 to 180 marks in Shift 1 could fetch a 99 percentile. For 95 percentile, students may need around 120 to 130 marks. These are tentative estimates based on student feedback and paper difficulty, and final results may vary after normalisation.

Chemistry in JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Shift 1 Today was largely based on NCERT. Students reported that inorganic and organic questions were direct and familiar. Physical chemistry had a few numerical-based questions, but overall the section was scoring. Many candidates felt Chemistry helped improve their overall attempt.

Students who appeared for Shift 1 said that Physics was the easiest section today. Most questions were formula-based and directly from standard topics like current electricity, modern physics, and mechanics. Many candidates said that if concepts were clear, this section could be completed quickly with good accuracy.

As per early student reactions, the JEE Main 2026 Shift 1 paper today was of moderate difficulty. Physics was considered easy to moderate, Chemistry was mostly NCERT-based and straightforward, while Mathematics was slightly lengthy. Overall, the paper was balanced, and students who practised regularly found it manageable within the given time.

Mathematics in Shift 2 and the Shift 2 exam held today was lengthy and required strong time management. Students mentioned that even though questions were doable, calculations took time. Topics like calculus and matrices were prominent. Attempting this section smartly was important to maximise the overall score.

For Shift 2, scoring around 165 to 175 marks may lead to 99 percentile, based on early analysis. For 90 to 95 percentile, students may need around 110 to 130 marks. These are rough estimates and may change after official normalisation.

Students appearing in the next days of the JEE Mains April attempt exam should focus on quick revision of formulas and NCERT concepts. Avoid learning new topics at the last moment. Stay calm, manage time wisely during the exam, and attempt questions you are confident about first.

Many students highlighted that time management played a key role in today’s exam. Those who divided time properly among Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics were able to attempt more questions. Skipping tough questions and returning later helped improve performance.

Students with clarity of concepts and steady problem-solving approach would have performed well.

Chemistry: Chemistry was moderate overall. Physical Chemistry was relatively more demanding due to calculation-based questions, making it slightly time-consuming. Organic and Inorganic Chemistry were more straightforward, focusing on conceptual clarity and direct application. A balanced preparation across all three areas was essential to maximise scoring.

Mathematics: Mathematics was moderate in difficulty but lengthy, as expected. While the questions were not highly complex conceptually, they required time and accuracy, making it challenging for students to attempt many questions. Attempting more than 15 questions accurately within the given time would have been difficult for most students.

The overall paper was moderate in difficulty and slightly tougher than the morning shift. The paper placed emphasis on application of concepts and time management, rather than tricky or unfamiliar questions.
Sections like Mathematics and Physical Chemistry required careful time allocation, making speed and accuracy critical. Students who maintained composure and managed their time effectively would have had an advantage.

The physics section was moderate in difficulty. Topics included electrostatics, magnetism, modern physics, and ray optics. It was described as having a mix of conceptual and formula-based questions.

Of all the three sections, Chemistry was the easiest, largely NCERT-based. Key areas included organic chemistry (amines), physical chemistry (kinetics), and inorganic chemistry.

Maths was the toughest and most time-consuming of all the three subjects. Questions were heavily based on calculus, matrices, determinants, vectors, and 3D geometry.

Candidates are saying that session 2 of JEE Mains was easier than the session 1 exams held in January 2026.

The JEE Main 2nd April 2026 exam was well-rounded, featuring an even distribution of questions across the entire syllabus. Since no single topic dominated the paper, success depended on a solid grasp of core concepts and the ability to apply them effectively.

Topics such as Electromagnetic Waves, Thermodynamics, and Modern Physics were adequately covered.

The Mathematics section was moderate to difficult and the most time-consuming. Questions were well distributed across the syllabus, with higher weightage from Integral Calculus, Conic Sections, and Algebra. Topics such as 3D Geometry, Vectors, and Complex Numbers had average representation. Algebra appeared slightly dominant, while Coordinate Geometry had moderate coverage. Lengthy calculations and tricky problems made this section the toughest.

The JEE (Main) paper conducted on 2 April 2026 (Morning Shift) was of moderate to difficult level. Among the three subjects, Mathematics was the most difficult. Physics was easy to moderate, while Chemistry was moderate to difficult due to its calculation-intensive nature. Both Mathematics and Chemistry were time-consuming, making it challenging to complete the paper within the given time. Overall, the paper was well-balanced in terms of question distribution and chapter coverage.
