JEE Main 2023 February 1 Live Updates: Question Paper OUT, Answer Key, Difficulty Level

• Candidates who have passed the Class 12 exam in 2021/2022 or who are appearing in 2023.
• No age limit.
• For paper 1, candidates must have Physics and Maths in Class 12 and any other subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical vocational subject.
• For Paper 2A, candidates must have Physics, Chemistry and Maths in Class 12.
• For Paper 2B, candidates must have Maths in Class 12.

National Testing Agency (NTA), the examination conducting authority assigns the JEE Main 2023 exam locations. NTA will conduct the exam in 399 cities in India and 25 cities outside India. Candidates can choose from a list of JEE Main 2023 exam centres given by NTA. It is advised that the candidate choose a centre that is most close to their home. JEE Main exam centres are there in India and abroad. Information on the exam centre, examination timings, and other guidelines to be followed on examination day are included in the JEE Main admit card.

• Candidates can check their email or mobile for a message consisting of their JEE Main application number sent during registration. OR
• The printout of the confirmation page can be checked for the application number. OR
• Candidates can contact the NTA authorities to know their application number.

NTA will start JEE Main registration 2023 session 2 on February 7. JEE Main 2023 application form link session 2 will be enabled at jeemain.nta.nic.in. JEE Main application form 2023 last date is March 7. 

The process of submitting the JEE Mains 2023 registration form includes completing the registration, filling in the application form, uploading the necessary documents, and making the application fee payment. JEE Main 2023 registration fee has been raised. Male candidates of General/Gen-EWS/OBC (NCL) now have to pay INR 1000 while application fees for SC/ST/PwD/Transgender and Female candidates is INR 500 now.

The Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main is conducted for admission to BE/BTech and BArch/BPlan courses at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE Main is also an eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is conducted for admission to IITs.

The NTA has released the official JEE Mains 2023 mock test free online on the website nta.nic.in. Candidates preparing for the exam can practice NTA JEE Main mock tests online for free. The level of mock tests available in the NTA portal is exactly similar to the JEE Main exam which helps in evaluating one performance and preparation for the exam in a real manner.

There are a total of 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 19 other GFTIs that participate in JoSAA counselling. Other institutes which offer admission based on JEE Main scores are from the states which do not conduct their entrance exams for engineering admission and include U.P., Bihar, M.P., Delhi, among others.

• Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test, followed by

Note: In case the tie still stands unresolved, the same rank is given to the candidates

NTA will release JEE Main 2023 Jan Result in the first week of February. JEE Main January result 2023 link will be activated on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates will need to login to the website using their JEE Main 2023 application number and password to check their JEE Main 2023 result. 

NTA will release JEE Main application form 2023 session 2 on February 7. JEE Main registration 2023 last date session 2 is March 7. For the first session, JEE Mains 2023 registration started on December 15 and was open till January 12. JEE Main 2023 Application form is made available only in online mode on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in.  

JEE Main Cutoff 2023 will be released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) along with the session 2 results. The previous year's cutoff is as follows:

Candidates shall be offered admission based on their choices and All India Ranks of JEE (Main) - 2023 through a Seat Allocation Process to be announced later by CSAB/JoSAA. 

Passed qualifying examinations with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects.

NTA will display the Provisional JEE Main 2023 Answer Key of the questions on the NTA website: https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/. An opportunity will be given to the candidates to challenge the Provisional Answer Keys with a nonrefundable online payment of ₹ 200/- per question challenged as processing charges. The provisional Answer Keys are likely to be displayed for two to three days after the exam is over.

The official JEE Main question papers 2023 will be available a few days after the exam. The question papers will be uploaded by NTA on the official website. Candidates can download JEE Main question papers with solutions to understand the difficulty level and pattern of the exam. 

With JEE Main official question papers candidates can also check the JEE Main 2023 answer key and also the response sheets. Candidates can download everything under their respective logins using their application number and password/date of birth.

Mathematics was the most difficult subject to attempt in this JEE Main question paper, whereas Chemistry was the easiest subject to attempt.

The session 1 exam of JEE Main 2023 is now over. The session 2 exams will be held in April.

• JEE Mains Exam Dates 2023 for Session 2- April 6, 8, 10, 11 and 12

NTA concludes JEE Main 2023 session 1 exams. NTA will soon announce the JEE Main 2023 Jan answer key, questions and challenge dates. The result date will be also announced soon.

Soon, JEE Main 2023 Feb 1 shift 2 will end and with this the session 1 of JEE Main 2023 will come to an end.

A total of 90 questions will be asked in JEE Main 2023 exam out of which candidates have to attempt 75 questions. There will be 30 questions from each Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates will have to attempt 25 questions from each section out of which 20 questions will be MCQ and 5 will be a numerical value type.

JEE Main 2023 percentile is calculated up to 7 decimal points in order to resolve tie between students. JEE Main percentile formula = (100 x no. of applicants who appeared in the session with a raw score equal to or less than the candidate) / total no. of the candidates appearing in the session.

The merit list/scores/result of JEE (Main) – 2023 may be utilized by other Entities of Central/State Governments with their eligibility criteria/norms/applicable regulations/guidelines/rules.

For the academic year 2023-24, admissions under MEA (Welfare) quota seats shall be based on the Joint Entrance Examination (Main).

The shift 2 exam today has started. The exam will end at 3 pm. Post that, candidates will be able to check the student reactions, memory-based questions and answers of the shift 2 exam.

Candidates need to carry any one of the following photo ID (must be original, valid and non-expired) –

• PAN card

• Driving license

• Voter ID

• Passport

• Aadhaar Card (with the photograph)

• Aadhaar enrolment number/Ration card

To calculate scores using the JEE Main answer key, candidates can use the steps below:

• Download the answer key of JEE Main 2023.
• Now crosscheck the answers in the key with that of the responses submitted by you in the exam.
• If the answer matches then add 4 marks. If not then deduct 1 marks.
• Follow the process and calculate the total score.

Or simply put the number of correct answers and the number of incorrect answers in the formula below:

JEE Main 2023 raw score = 4 X number of correct answers - 1 X number of wrong answers

Note, that the scores that are fetched after using the answer key are the raw score. NTA will convert the raw score to percentile scores for the All India Rank, cutoff and final marks.

• Candidates should report to the exam centre as per the time mentioned in their admit card
• Candidates should bring their JEE Main admit card 2023 downloaded from the website jeemain.nta.nic.in along with photo ID proof and one passport size photo
• Candidates should follow JEE Main 2023 dress code as mentioned in hall ticket
• Candidates should not bring any prohibited item inside the exam hall

1 hour to go for the shift 2 exam to start. The candidates have started to reach the exam centres.

The last shift of JEE Main 2023 session 1 will start at 3 pm. This is te last exam for this session and the exam will end at 6 pm.

• In Physics, questions were asked from electrostatics, laws of motion, modern physics, projectile motion, thermodynamics, etc.
• In Chemistry, questions were asked from biomolecules, polymers, mole concepts, aromatic compounds, block elements, etc.
• In Maths, questions were asked from Vectors & 3D, ITF, coordinate geometry, sets & functions, definite integration, limits, etc.

NTA will release the official JEE Main answer key 2023 a few days after the conclusion of the exam. Candidates will be able to check their JEE Main answer key by NTA from the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. The grievances/objections submitted by the candidates will be reviewed by the NTA after which the final JEE Main answer key 2023 will be released. JEE Main result 2023 will be calculated based on the final answer key. Along with the answer key, NTA will also release JEE Mains response sheet and question papers. Candidates will be able to calculate their expected score in the exam using the candidate response sheet, question paper, and JEE Main 2022 answer key.

The overall paper was easy. Physics and Maths were easy to moderate. Chemistry was easy.

JEE Main 2023 Feb 1 shift 1 exam concludes. Student reactions, analysis and memory-based questions, answers, and solutions will be available soon.

Candidates can check the official marking scheme according to the JEE Main 2023 exam pattern given below. Using the marking scheme and answer key, the candidates will be able to calculate their probable secured scores before the JEE Main 2023 result is announced.

• Candidates must adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines before and during the exam.

There will be negative markings for numerical value type questions. However, if any anomaly or discrepancy is found after the process of challenges of the key verification, it shall be addressed in the following manner:
i. Correct Answer: Four marks ( 4)
ii. Incorrect Answer: Minus one mark (-1)
iii. Unanswered/Marked for Review: No mark (0).
iv. If a question is found to be incorrect or the Question is dropped then Four marks ( 4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.
v. Candidates are advised to do the calculations with the constants given (if any) in the questions. The answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

JEE Main 2023 cutoff means the minimum marks candidates need to obtain to sit for JEE Advanced. NAT release this cutoff after the final session of JEE Main 2023 is over. The cutoff marks vary category-wise. The cutoff marks will be the minimum percentile marks needed. This year the top 2,50,000 candidates in JEE Main 2023, will be able to register for JEE Advanced.

The shift 1 exam for February 1 2023 Jee Main exam has started. The shift 1 exam will end at 12 noon.

NTA is conducting the JEE Main January 2023 exam in two shifts. The exam time according to NTA JEE guidelines: 

• Ensure you reach the test centre at least half an hour before the reporting time mentioned in your JEE Main 2023 admit Card. Candidates, reporting after the gate closes, will not be allowed to enter the test venue. Candidates will be undergoing various mandatory processes, thus reaching on time is important.
• Carry JEE Main admit card 2023 along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.
• Follow a proper dress code.
• Do not indulge in unethical practices.
• Follow the instructions of the invigilators.

NTA will conduct the last 2 shifts of JEE Main 2023 Jan session. Shift 1 will start at 9 am.

JEE Main 2023 comprises 90 questions. Each section in JEE Main 2023 exam comprises 30 questions, out of which applicants have to attempt 25 questions. Candidates appearing in the exam have to attempt 75 questions out of 90.

• Any kind of paper or printed material
• Eatables and Water (loose or packed)
• Electronic items and instruments such as Mobile Phones, Ear Phone, Microphone, Pager, Calculator
• Instruments such as DocuPen, Slide Ruler, Log Tables, Camera, Tape Recorder
• Any type of watch including electronic watches with a calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/ devices in the examination hall/room

The NTA has released the JEE Mains 2023 hall ticket download link for February 1 exam. Candidates appearing in the JEE 2023 exam can download the admit card from the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.

• Candidates will not be allowed to carry any items other than those mentioned on the admit card.
• Candidates must write their name, roll number at the top of the sheet, return the sheets, and admit card to the invigilator before leaving the examination hall.
• Diabetic students will be allowed to carry eatables like sugar tablets, fruits, and transparent water bottles to the examination hall/room. However, they will not be allowed to carry packed foods like chocolates/candy/sandwiches etc.
• Candidates will have to sit in the seat allocated to them.
• Candidates will be allowed to appear at the allotted venue for the test only.
• No candidate will be allowed to enter the exam centre once the exam starts.
• Requests for change in JEE Main 2023 exam centres will not be entertained.
