According to the official website of JEE Advanced, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling is expected to begin on October 16, 2021. Check details below.

While the candidates who have cleared the JEE Main have started preparing for the JEE Advanced, they also search for counselling and other important admission details at premiere engineering institutes. The process for admission to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 28 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs) is managed by JoSAA.

Candidates who qualify for the JEE Main or JEE Advanced have to register for JoSAA 2021 to participate in the counselling and admission process for various renowned engineering institutes across the country. They will be allotted seats in seven rounds of JoSAA counselling 2021. The seat allotment through JoSAA will be based on the merit of candidates and their preference of courses and colleges. Candidates will have to select their choice of courses and colleges according to their eligibility during JoSAA registration 2021.

JEE Main counselling schedule
Once the result of JEE Advanced is declared on October 15, the counselling dates will be announced. As per the information displayed on the JEE Advanced website, the counselling will begin from October 16, 2021.

Steps for JoSAA counselling

Registration: Candidates need to first register for the counselling process. They can do so by putting in their JEE Main application number and password. It is to be noted that the registration is to be done only once for the entire counselling process.

Choice filling: Students should enter the course of their choice and college preferences.

Mock seat allotment and choice locking: In order to make the students aware of the counselling process, a mock seat allotment and choice locking session is conducted. JoSAA releases two mock seat allotments during the process. Here, students have the option to change their preferences.

Seat Allotment: Students will be allotted seats based on their marks in JEE Main, category and choice of  colleges among others. Once the seat is allotted, candidates are expected to download the same. They must also give an undertaking accepting the seat and mention their choice of keeping the seat (freeze option), looking for upgrade in the subsequent round (float option) or choosing a different course at the same college (slide option).

Payment of seat acceptance fee: Candidates who have been allotted a seat are supposed to pay the seat acceptance fee and complete other formalities. Candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/PWD) need to pay Rs 15,000 while those from the general category have to pay Rs 35,000. This is adjustable with the academic fee.

The top 2,50,000 candidates in JEE Main will be eligible to register for JEE Advanced 2021. The JEE Main 2021 results were declared on September 15. This year, 44 students have scored 100 percentile in the entrance test while 18 candidates shared the top rank.
