Shiksha caught up with some students who took JEE Main 2021 to understand their point of view. Let’s read what students have to say regarding the JEE Main 2021 scam.

According to Keshav Pranshu, who had appeared in the JEE Main Session 4, strict investigation should be done to provide justice to genuine students. He said, β€œThis scam can affect all students who have appeared for the exam. I want the authorities to debar the students, who were indulged in cheating, from appearing for further examinations. I have been appearing for this exam for the past one year. In total, I have appeared for JEE Main six times and now this scam has come into light, but I can appear for the exam again. Strict investigation should be conducted into the case so that justice can be done to serious students. The authorities should think about reconducting the exam, otherwise it will be injustice to students who had studied hard to appear in these exams in these difficult times.”

The JEE Main scam news left Sowyma Jain baffled. She said, β€œStudents study for years to clear JEE Main and Advanced exam and now this scam. The authorities should cancel the entire August session exam and reconduct one session for all students. We want fair investigation into the case. Students involved in the case should be punished. Please conduct the JEE Main exam again as it is a setback to students who work hard and study 15-16 hours a day to get that percentile.”

Anshul Verma said re-examination is the only solution to get genuine results. He said, β€œThe JEE Main should be reconducted to give a fair chance to students. The authorities should nullify all previous attempts of JEE Main 2021 and take one last attempt. The students who are involved the scam must be eliminated and scores should be re-evaluated."

Aryaman Mohan, who took JEE Main Session 4, was disappointed after hearing the JEE Main scam. Urging authorities to conduct a fair inquiry into the case, he said, β€œThis may not be the first case of cheating. The CBI may have got a tip-off after which they must have conducted raids at specific locations. This means that not every place has the same standard of security. In a highly competitive exam like JEE, there should be no compromise on security. I have appeared for the JEE Main thrice and I don’t think the exam should be reconducted. Reappearing for the JEE Main again would not be possible for some students as they must have been done with their studies. They don’t have enough energy to appear in another exam. Also, everything has been delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. It will further delay the academic process at IITs and NITs. For now, the students who are found guilty should be disqualified. A free and fair inquiry should be conducted at examination centres so that such cases are not repeated in future.”

Meanwhile, netizens stormed Twitter after the JEE Main scam went viral on social media. Some said the exam should be reconducted, while others said reevaluate all previous percentiles of JEE Main 2021 from Februray to August. Below are some of the reactions of the JEE Main exam takers:

The CBI has detained seven persons for allegedly trying to subvert the JEE Main. The accused used to charge around Rs 15 lakh from candidates in exchange for someone else taking the JEE Main examination. In connection with irregularities in the JEE Main scam, CBI has sent coaching institute, Affinity Education Directors Siddharth Krishna and Vishambar Mani Tripathi, and an employee Hritik Singh to CBI custody till September 9.
