JNTUA student ends life in hostel
Chanakya Nanda Reddy, a second-year Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) student, had sent a parting message “Bye” to his friends before taking the extreme step.
A 19-year-old BTech student of Jawharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Anantapur, allegedly committed suicide at the college hostel in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
The deceased has been identified as Chanakya Nanda Reddy, a second-year Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) student. He belonged to Udayagiri in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. According to his fellow mates, he was a good student who scored a 9.8 GPA in the first year. He had sent a parting message “Bye” to his friends before taking the extreme step.
The family members of the deceased have been informed and his body has been shifted to the Government General Hospital for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, the police have a registered a case and have initiated the investigation. They said the reason for taking the extreme step could not be ascertained and no suicide note had been recovered from the spot.
Recently, an engineering student from Kerala has allegedly ended his life by slitting his throat at the AMC Engineering College in Bannerghatta locality of Bengaluru. The police said the student was under depression for being away from his parents who were in Dubai.
