JNTUK, German varsity to jointly offer 4-year engineering course

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) and Germany-based Kempten University of Applied Sciences will offer the programme from the coming academic year. 

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) said that it had entered into an agreement with Germany-based Kempten University of Applied Sciences to offer a four-year engineering programme. The programme will be offered from the coming academic year. 

As per a report published in The Hindu, a team led by AP State Council of Higher Education Chairman Prof K Hemachandra Reddy and JNTUK Vice-Chancellor Prof GVR Prasada Raju visited many universities in Germany to look for collaboration opportunities in academics and research between October 18 and 24. 

Prof Prasada Raju said, “In principle, Steinbeis University, Berlin, has agreed for collaborative research in the field of green energy. An agreement has been signed with Kempten University of Applied Sciences for the four-year engineering programme during the visit.” 

Collaborating with the foreign universities has been one of top priorities of Prof GVR Prasada Raju even since he took charge as Vice-Chancellor of JNTUK. The university is already offering collaborative courses of awarding double degrees with students continuing the studies partly in India and later a few years in universities abroad. 

JNTUK Narasaraopet to start classes from permanent campus soon 

JNTUK Narasaraopet will soon begin engineering classes from its permanent campus as the first phase of construction works is over. The foundation stone for a permanent campus of the JNTUK in Narasaraopet was laid by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy virtually in 2020. The construction work is being done in four phases with INR 150 crore.  

In the first phase, construction of the academic block, including the principal and vice principal’s offices, classrooms, computer labs and mechanical workshops, has been done. In the second phase, four hostel buildings to accommodate 2,000 students will be constructed at INR 60 crore. The hostels will have a well-equipped dining hall, kitchen, and gymnasium.
