Officials have decided to start the classes for the first-year students of all branches in the new building as the first phase of construction works is over.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) Narasaraopet will soon begin engineering classes from its permanent campus as the first phase of construction works is over. The engineering college, which is affiliated to JNTU-Kakinada, was set up in 2016, but it had been operating from a private college without proper amenities since then.

As per a report published in The New Indian Express, the college officials, who are planning to complete the works by the next academic year, have decided to start the classes for the first-year students of all branches in the new building as the first phase of construction works is complete and the required classrooms and laboratories have been set up.

Foundation stone for JNTUK Narasaraopet was laid in 2020

The foundation stone for a permanent campus of the JNTUK in Narasaraopet was laid by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy virtually in 2020. The construction work is being done in four phases with INR 150 crore.

In the first phase, construction of the academic block, including the principal and vice principal’s offices, classrooms, computer labs and mechanical workshops, has been done. In the second phase, four hostel buildings to accommodate 2,000 students will be constructed at INR 60 crore. The hostels will have a well-equipped dining hall, kitchen, and gymnasium.
