Special Vacant Seats Filling Round, also known as the special round is conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board CSAB to fill the vacant seats at NITs, IIEST, IIITs and other GFTIs (Except IITs) after completion of all the JoSAA Rounds. The purpose of the special round is to fill the remaining vacant seats in the participating institutes. Candidates who are eligible for the special round have to register and fill their choices again. The seat allocation in the special round is based on the candidate's rank and the availability of seats.

Yes, it is very possible that a candidate's name appears on more than one rank list. It depends on the candidate's category and physical disability status, along with his or her performance in the entrance exam. It is important to note that the counselling process is based on the candidate's All India Rank (AIR) or Common Rank List (CRL) as per the respective rank list. The counselling process follows the order of priority of the rank lists, which is specified by JoSAA.

For joining IIT/NIT/IIIT through JEE, candidates are not required to provide a domicile Certificate. It is only NIT where admission is offered against the Home State quota and it is not determined on the basis of the state to which you belong but on the basis of the state in which you appear for your 12th board exam. The domicile Certificate is not required during JoSAA counseling. The candidates are given admission based on their JEE score.

To check the JoSAA Cutoff 2023, candidates need to follow the below-mentioned steps:

• Visit the official website at josaa.nic.in.
• Click on the “eServices” option on the homepage and then select the “OR- CR 2023” option.
• A new page will be displayed on the screen.
• Candidates need to now select round, institute type, institute name, academic programme, and seat type/ category.
• Now, click on the “submit” button.
• JoSAA 2023 cutoff will appear on the screen.

The filling-in of choices on the online portal is free of cost. The candidate must pay the seat acceptance fee before continuing with the JoSAA process till the end to avail the seat in an IIT or NIT. The documents uploaded by the candidate will not be verified unless the candidate pays the seat acceptance fee. General/Open category candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 35,000, whereas SC, Gen-PwD, ST, OBC-NCL-PwD, ST-PwD, and SC-PwD have to pay Rs 15,000 through e-challan or through SBI net banking. CRL i.e. the common rank list/overall rank is considered for JoSAA counselling in the case of general category students.
