Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2019 exam on January 8 and 9 might have a reason to worry due to the upcoming two-day Central Trade Union strike on the same dates.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting JEE Main 2019 exam from January 8 to January 12, 2019.

The nationwide general strike, which will affect basic services throughout the country including railways and road transport, will hit thousands of JEE aspirants appearing for JEE Main slotted in the second week of January 2019. It is being speculated that candidates travelling from distant places to take the exam may face difficulties in reaching their exam centres due to this strike.

According to trade union leaders, they were not aware of the exam being held on January 08 and 09, 2019 and that no exam conducting body approached them for the same.

From 2019, NTA will be holding JEE Main twice - first time in January and second time in April. In April, the exam will be held from April 6 to 20, 2019. JEE Main 2019 admit cards have already been issued to the candidates with the finalised exam date, time and venue. Till date, there has been no update on NTA rescheduling the exams or the strike being postponed. However, Vineet Joshi, Director General, NTA was quoted as saying, " We will be holding a meeting to discuss the matter soon".

Candidates as well as parents are equally worried because transportation is going to be a huge problem on the strike days. We hope that the strike is cancelled or the NTA re-schedules the JEE Main 2019 exam dates to avoid inconvenience to students. In case, the exam or the strike dates are not revised, here’s what you need to remember:

  1. Candidates travelling from far off places are advised to reach their JEE Main 2019 exam city a day in advance to avoid travel related delays.
  2. They are advised to visit the test centre a day before the actual exam to assess factors like time and distance.
  3. On the exam day, try to reach your JEE Main 2019 test centre much before the reporting time.
