New IIT Roorkee Director KK Pant assumes office
Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, who joined IIT Roorkee as Director in 2016, handed over the charge to KK Pant on Wednesday.
KK Pant took charge as the new Director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee on Wednesday. Former Director of the institute Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, who joined IIT Roorkee as Director in 2016, handed over the charge to KK Pant. KK Pant was earlier the Dean Faculty at IIT Delhi and a professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering. He was also the Petrotech (FIPI) Chair Professor at IIT Delhi.
IIT Roorkee took to Twitter to announce the same. It wrote, We are delighted to welcome our new Director, Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, who takes charge today. @iitroorkee looks forward to scaling greater heights under your leadership. Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi hands over charge and congratulates Prof. K.K. Pant.”
It further wrote, “We thank Prof. Chaturvedi for his leadership and guidance through his tenure as Director and wish him good health and success in his career ahead.”
Pant did his BTech and MTech from IIT Kanpur in 1987 and 1989, respectively, and went on to complete his PhD from Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) Kanpur. He has more than 30 years of academic and industrial research experience with 220 plus publications having 11,746 citations and numerous patents.
Pant has worked on cutting edge and futuristic technologies of national and international importance such as coal to methanol conversion, e-waste and plastic management, hydrogen generation, CO2 capture and conversion, biomass valorisation, etc., using catalysis and reaction engineering. He has also been honoured twice with the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) award, besides several other honours such as CHEMCON distinguished speaker award, Herdilia Award by Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.
