NIRF Ranking 2024: SRMIST Ranks 13th in Engineering Category; Admission via SRMJEEE

SRMIST has ranked at 13th position in the NIRF Engineering 2024 rankings published today, August 12 by the Ministry of Education. This is the ninth edition of the NIRF rankings. Check the details below.

SRMIST NIRF Ranking 2024

The Ministry of Education, Government of India has released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings 2024 today, August 12. Based on the NIRF engineering ranking 2024, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has improved its ranking significantly. SRMIST has climbed up to the 13th position this year, from the 28th position last year. SRMIST has also improved its ranking in the University category this year, from position 18 in 2023 to position 12 this year. In the current year, the NIRF ranking saw participation from 10,885 colleges, a significant increase from the 8,686 colleges that participated last year.

It can be noted from the table above that SRMIST has improved its NIRF ranking in the engineering category from 41 in 2020 to 24 in 2022. However, in 2023 its position dropped from 24 in 2022 to 28 in 2023. But in 2024, SRMIST has jumped the ranking by 15 positions, which is very significant.

The top engineering colleges in NIRF 2024 ranking other than the IITs and NITs include Vellore Institute of Technology at rank 11, Jadavpur University at rank 12, Anna University at 14th rank, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham at rank 23, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Deemed-to-be-university) at rank 29. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) started in 2015, has expanded its scope this year to include open universities, state-funded government universities, and skill universities in its rankings. The evaluation now encompasses 16 categories, including existing categories: overall, universities, medical, engineering, management, law, architecture, colleges, research institutions, pharmacy, dental, agriculture and allied sectors, and innovation. Additionally, there have been adjustments to the evaluation parameters, covering Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception. 

SRMIST BTech Admission

SRMIST BTech admission is based on SRMJEEE. SRMJEEE is a national-level entrance exam held for admission to BTech courses at SRMIST campuses. The exam encompasses the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, Aptitude, and English, aligning with the 10+2 syllabus. The assessment is conducted remotely, allowing candidates to participate from the comfort of their homes. SRMJEEE serves as the common entrance test for all SRM Group institutes situated across different locations such as Chennai (Kattankulathur, Vadapalani, Ramapuram, Tiruchirappalli), Delhi NCR (Ghaziabad, UP), SRM University - Sonepat (Haryana), and SRM University, AP (Andhra Pradesh). Admission decisions are based exclusively on SRMJEEE ranks and seat availability, with candidates selecting their courses during the counselling process. The admission for the 2024 session is over and for the next session, the details are expected to be released in November 2024.
