NIRF Rankings 2021: IIT Delhi, JNU, Jamia, AIIMS, DU, NLU make Delhi education capital of India
IIT Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, have secured a place among the top 10 in various categories, while JNU, NLU Delhi, Delhi University, AIIMS are among the best in their respective categories.
Delhi, the national capital of India, has also emerged as the education capital of India in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2021. The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, AIIMS, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University (DU), Jamia Millia Islamia, NLU have been ranked among the top in this year’s ranking.
Delhi has three central universities, one IIT and several other institutions catering to students of different streams like management, architecture, dental, medicine, law, pharmacy, etc.
The best performing institution from Delhi this year has been IIT Delhi, which has secured a position among the top five in various categories of NIRF 2021. The surprise package came when IIT Delhi’s Department of Management Studies or DoMS, was ranked five in the ‘Management’ category, ahead of some of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

Commenting on the feat, Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Director IIT Delhi wrote on Twitter: “Happy to see IIT Delhi's Management Department figure among the top 5 management programmes in the country, alongside top IIMs. In Engineering, IIT Delhi is ranked number 2. DMS IIT Delhi has the potential to soon become the 'D' among the ABCD of management schools in India. We are working on it.

Overall Rankings
IIT Delhi, which is the best performing institution from Delhi across categories has secured the fourth rank in the Overall category, and JNU which is located just across the road from IIT Delhi has been ranked ninth in the category. The other two central universities from Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia and the University of Delhi have been 13th and 19th in the Overall category.

NIRF 2021: DU and affiliated colleges
Delhi University, one of the most prestigious and sought after universities in the country though has slipped from its previous year's rank of 11 to 12 this year in the ‘University’ category of the NIRF Rankings 2021, still, it has among the top institutions in various categories of ranking.
There are as many as five colleges of DU among the top 10 colleges in the country, they are Miranda House, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, St. Stephens's College, Hindu College and SRCC - Shri Ram College of Commerce. 28 colleges of DU have been ranked among the top 100 colleges in the country, which shows the quality of education and other experiences Delhi University offers to students.

NIRF Research Rank
In the NIRF Research ranking, where institutions have been ranked based on the research activities conducted by them, there are two institutions from Delhi among the top 10, with IIT Delhi securing fourth rank and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi at eighth. Delhi University is at 11th while JNU is at 18th position.

JMI: 6th Top University of country
Jamia Millia Islamia has secured 6th rank among the ‘Top 10 Universities’ of the country in the NIRF-2021 Rankings released by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. JMI significantly improved its position from 10th last year in the NIRF.
Expressing her delight over the improved performance of the university, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar said: “This achievement is all the more significant because of the challenging time the country and university has been facing due to Covid-19 pandemic and also in the light of the increased competition in the ranking.”
JMI also improved its performance in the ‘overall category’ where it has been ranked 13th, improving from 16th last year. The university is also ranked at 10 in the Architecture category.
The Law College of JMI has been ranked seventh-best in the ‘Law’ category of NIRF 2021.

Medical and Dental Ranking: AIIMS, Best medical colleges
In the Medical category, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi has been ranked as the best medical college in the country, and is way ahead of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in the score, with AIIMS scoring 92.07, while PGIMER which has been ranked second has a score of 82.62.
Besides AIIMS, there are three more institutions from Delhi, the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, ranked 12; Maulana Azad Medical College at 17 and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital at 18.
In the Dental category of NIRF Rankings 2021, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences has been ranked as the third-best institute in the country, while Jamia Millia Islamia has been ranked 20th. Jamia Hamdard has been ranked as the best Pharmacy institute in the country in the NIRF 2021 Rankings.
NLU Delhi
The National Law University (NLU), Delhi has been ranked as the second-best law college in the country, another law college from Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia has been ranked at seven and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has been ranked 12th in India.
In the Architecture category, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi has been ranked fourth-best college in India, Jamia Millia Islamia is at 10th.
