NIT Calicut student falls to death from hostel building

In the suicide note, the deceased Chennupati Yaswanth mentioned that he had lost money after investing in an online trading app due to which he decided to commit suicide. 

A second-year BTech student of the National Institute of Technology-Calicut (NIT-C) allegedly committed suicide by falling from the ninth floor of the hostel building. 

The deceased has been identified as Chennupati Yaswanth, a resident of Hyderabad in Telangana. As per sources, the deceased lost money in an online trading application. The police said a suicide note had been recovered from the room of the deceased. In the suicide note, Yashwanth mentioned that he had lost money after investing in an online trading app due to which he decided to commit suicide. 

A faculty member said the student allegedly jumped from the college hostel around 2.30 pm after which he was taken to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital. He was put on ventilator support, but he succumbed to injuries around 5 pm. The Kunnamangalam police have registered a case and directed the college authorities to know about the involvement of students in online transactions.
