NIT Goa new campus ready, to be inaugurated by December-end

The eighth convocation of NIT Goa will be held today wherein 209 students – BTech (135), MTech (57),and PhD (17)  will be awarded degrees.

The new campus of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa at Cuncolim is ready and will be inaugurated by the end of 2023, said NIT Director Gopal Mugeraya. He was speaking at the eighth convocation of the institute to be held today (September 30) at Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan Dona Paula.

NIT Goa will award degrees to a total number of 209 students – BTech (135), MTech (57),and PhD (17). This year, BTech pass out students have been recruited with maximum pay package of INR 44 lakh and an average package of INR 13 lakh per annum.  

All 129 BTech students and more than 50 MTech students received job offers during NIT Goa campus placement sessions. This year, the technology institute also witnessed an increase in internship offers made to pre-final year students this year, despite the pandemic Industry’s top companies such as Amazon, Samsung, Oracle, Dell, Intel, IBM, Jio, Bosch, Tata Power, L&T, HDFC, HCL Technologies, Adani Group, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, Accenture and Persistent Systems participated in the placement drive.  

NIT faculty members are currently working on 43 projects worth nearly INR 17 crore. The institute has adopted five villages in Goa for sustainable development and is undertaking various programmes in these villages, the Director said. 

As part of students’ internship programme by NIT Goa, 30 Goan undergraduate students enrolled in engineering programmes at local institutes will be able to intern with the institute. The 30 chosen Goan students will be able to work alongside faculty members and researchers at the national institute. flexible timings will be offered to these students.
