NIT Warangal, CMTI collaborate to launch MTech in Additive Manufacturing
The initiative in collaboration with the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI) based in Bangalore, marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind in India.
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal Director Professor Bidyadhar Subudhi announced the commencement of a pioneering M Tech programme in Additive Manufacturing. The initiative in collaboration with the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI) based in Bangalore, marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind in India. Under this collaboration, a one-week high-end research-training programme- “Karyashala” on “Material Science in Additive Manufacturing” was inaugurated at the NIT Warangal campus. The Department of Mechanical Engineering, which has received sponsorship from DST-SERB under the Accelerated Vigyan Project, is organising the workshop.
Chief Scientist and Head of CSIR-CGCRI, Kolkata, Dr Vamsi Krishna Balla, emphasized the numerous applications of additive manufacturing. During the ceremony, he highlighted the immense benefits that the training programme will provide to the participants. A total of 25 faculty members and researchers from various research organizations are participating in the programme.
Earlier last month, NIT Warangal released its placement records stating that the highest placement offer was of 88 lakh. This offer was bagged by a student, Aditya Singh, of computer science stream at a Bengaluru-based company.
“This has been a record-breaking placement year at NIT Warangal ever as we saw a total of 1400 full-time employment (FTE) offers being made to the students, surpassing the previous academic year’s total of 1200. In addition, more than 450 internship offers were also received by students from all the programs,” said Prof. Davidson, head CCPD, from the institute.
