While answering questions on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Women's Institute of Technology Darbhanga in Lok Sabha, Dr Subhas Sarkar, Union Minister of State for Education, Government of India, said that as per the information received by AICTE, there is no shortage of faculties in the college.

Dr Subhas Sarkar, Union Minister of State for Education, Government of India said in the Lok Sabha that All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has informed that AICTE does not provide funds for infrastructure development to technical institutions. As per information available with AICTE, at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Women's Institute of Technology Darbhanga, there is no shortage of faculty members.

He was replying to the questions that highlighted that the Women's Institute of Technology located at Darbhanga is in a very bad condition. The question was asked if the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Women's Institute of Technology Darbhanga is a self-financed institution. If so, the details thereof; (c) whether the said institute was inaugurated by the then Hon'ble President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam; (d) if so, whether the government is considering an overall renovation of the said institution so that it can achieve its objective; And (e) if so, the details thereof?

About all these questions, the minister said that Education is in the concurrent list of the Constitution of India. Women’s Institute of Technology comes under the purview of Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga, which is a State University, under the administrative control of State Government of Bihar. The Development and maintenance of infrastructure in the State Universities and Colleges comes under the purview of the State Government and is the
primary responsibility of the State Government.
