GCET 2023 was the last state-held test for admission to engineering seats in Goa. The Directorate of Technical Education had last year announced to discontinue with GCET.

From the 2024-25 academic year, admissions to engineering colleges in Goa will be done through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main as the state government has abolished Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET). GCET 2023 results were declared on May 17,2023. This was the last state-held test for admission to engineering seats in the state. GCET 2023 was held on May 13 and 14 as a pen-and-paper-based test.

The five engineering colleges in Goa that will adapt to these changes are Goa College of Engineering Farmagudi; PCC college Verna, Rayeshwar College Shiroda; Don Bosco Engineering College Fatorda and Agnel Institute of Design Assagao. These colleges will now admit students on the basis of their JEE Main score.

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) had last year announced to discontinue with GCET, paving the way for a new method of admissions based on marks secured in JEE. The DTE ha said that the decision would save students from stress and encourage them to compete at national level.

The five engineering colleges that will adapt to these changes are Goa College of Engineering Farmagudi; PCC college Verna, Rayeshwar College Shiroda; Don Bosco Engineering College Fatorda and Agnel Institute of Design Assagao, accounting for a total of approximately 1500 seats. In addition admissions to NIT will also be determined according to the same criteria
