President Droupadi Murmu graced the 18th convocation of MNIT Jaipur. Out of 20 gold medals, 12 were awarded to female students, despite them making up just 29% of the graduates.

MNIT Jaipur Convocation 2024: President Droupadi Murmu attended the 18th convocation of Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur on September 18, 2024. Remarkably, 12 of the 20 gold medals were awarded to female students, despite them comprising only 29% of the graduating class. The President emphasized that this achievement showcases how, when given equal opportunities, women can excel and achieve outstanding success.

In her address, the President highlighted that NITs were established to advance quality technical education and research in India. She noted their significant role in producing skilled and capable professionals. Recognizing their importance, NITs have been granted the status of 'Institutions of National Importance.'

She emphasised that technical institutes like NITs are crucial in transforming India into a research and innovation hub. She expressed her happiness that MNIT's Innovation and Incubation Centre has successfully organized numerous start-up programs, benefiting a large number of participants. With around 125 start-ups registered at MNIT's Incubation Centre, these initiatives are also contributing to the creation of new employment opportunities.

The President was happy to note that MNIT has secured a position in the top 50 institutes of the country in the ‘Engineering category’ of NIRF's India Rankings 2024. She expressed confidence that the faculty, students and staff of MNIT will work harder and bring MNIT into the top 10 institutes of the country.

The President emphasised that increasing women's participation in R&D is vital not only for the nation's social and economic growth but also for enhancing the quality of life for future generations of women. She noted with appreciation the rise in girls' enrollment in STEMM fields in recent years.
