QS Sustainability Ranking 2024: IIT Bombay Grabs 2nd Place in India, 50th in Asia and 303rd Globally

QS Sustainability Ranking 2024: IIT Bombay has secured 303rd worldwide, whereas, within the Asian continent, IIT Bombay stands at the 50th position, showcasing its commitment to sustainability and excellence across diverse academic domains. Get details here 

QS Sustainability Ranking 2024: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay has attained the 2nd position in India, reflecting its commendable efforts in sustainability. Globally, it has secured an overall ranking of 303rd, while in Asia, it stands at the 50th position. 

Additionally, the Institute achieved rankings of 218th in the 'Environmental Impact Performance,' 439th in the 'Social Impact Performance,' and 655th in the 'Governance' category within the QS Sustainability Ranking 2024. 

Talking about IIT Bombay’s performance in QS Sustainability Ranking 2024, Deputy Director (Academic and Infrastructural Affairs) of the Institute Prof. S. Sudarshan said, “IIT Bombay is pleased to be ranked 2nd in India on the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024. IIT Bombay has active and very successful research programs on climate, solar power, battery technology, electric vehicles, and carbon capture and utilization, all of which will play a major role in making our planet sustainable in the long term.”

About QS Sustainability Ranking

To measure the impact of actions taken by universities to tackle the world’s greatest Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) challenges, the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) introduced ‘QS Sustainability Ranking’ last year. 

The parameters and their weightage under the Environmental Impact Category are given below:

1. Environmental Education 17.0%

2. Environmental Research 13.0%

3. Environmental Sustainability 15.0%

Following are the parameters and their weightings under Social Impact Category:

1. Employability and Outcomes 11.0%

2. Equality 12.0%

3. Health and Wellbeing 5.0%

4. Impact of Education 7.0%

5. Knowledge Exchange 10.0%
