SC to Hear JEE Advanced 2025 Third Attempt Limit Plea on January 6; Exam Registration Opens April 23
A plea on JEE Advanced 2025 three-attempt limit rollback was listed in the Supreme Court for hearing on Friday, December 20. In this row, the next hearing in SC is scheduled for January 6. Full details below.
The case regarding the restoration of the three-attempt limit for the JEE Advanced 2025 has been scheduled for a Supreme Court hearing on January 6, 2025, following its initial listing on December 20. The Joint Admission Board (JAB), responsible for the administration of the JEE Advanced for admissions into the esteemed Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), announced a modification to the attempt policy of the exam on November 5, 2024, extending the number of attempts to three. However, this decision was retracted on November 18, 2024, reverting to the previous limitation of two attempts per candidate.
The legal challenge has been brought forth by 22 students across 12 states, who allege that the rapid changes in the JEE Advanced 2025 attempt limit policy, especially the shift from two attempts to three and back to two within a mere three weeks, have resulted in significant academic and emotional distress. The petitioners contend that they had commenced their preparation under the assumption of being allowed a third attempt, which has now been rolled back.
