Smart India Hackathon 2023: Nodal Centre at Manipal Institute of Technology All Set for Grand Finale

This year, the Manipal Institute of Technology is the nodal center to oversee the Smart India Hackathon - Hardware edition. A total of 24 teams comprising 179 participants have geared up to tackle four problem statements sourced from two state governments and one ministry. Specifically, Manipal Institute of Technology is playing host to problem statements provided by the Government of Gujarat, the Government of Kerala, and the Ministry of Ayush. Each problem statement carries a winning prize of Rs 1 lakh.
The Smart India Hackathon 2023 is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, the All India Council for Technical Education, and i4c. Set for its grand finale from December 19 to 23, 2023, this event has garnered significant attention and engagement from various Ministries, departments, PSUs, and private organizations, all contributing valuable problem statements. A total of 231 problem statements have been received, originating from 51 departments across 25 Ministries for SIH 2023.
Over 12,000 participants are set to engage in this year's national-level SIH grand finale. These teams, accompanied by over 2,500 mentors, will convene at their designated nodal centers, collaborating intensively on the problem statements throughout the SIH 2023 grand finale.

The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, offering students a vital platform to address the pressing challenges encountered by the government, ministries, departments, industries, and various organizations. Recognized as the world’s largest open innovation model, SIH fosters a culture of product innovation and problem-solving among students. Since its inception in 2017, SIH has been conducted annually in two formats: the SIH Software and SIH Hardware Editions tailored for higher education students. Additionally, in 2022, the Smart India Hackathon - Junior was introduced, targeting school students to instill an ethos of innovation and problem-solving at the school level.
Since 2017, the Smart India Hackathon's scope has steadily expanded, witnessed through growing student and organization engagement. SIH consistently empowers numerous students, providing a national stage for applying academic knowledge to real problems, fostering innovation, and nurturing entrepreneurship interests.
