Smart India Hackathon 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the contestants of the Smart India Hackathon 2023 Grand Finale and delivered a speech through video conferencing. Addressing the gathering, he expressed his happiness regarding the commitment of the younger generation in devising solutions for the nation's challenges. He emphasized the achievements of past hackathons, highlighting how the startups and solutions emerging from those events have significantly aided both the government and society.
He shared that the Hackathon is a learning experience for him too and expressed his continual enthusiasm for engaging with participants. Observing the radiant expressions on their faces, he highlighted that the vigor, determination, and commitment to nation-building among these participants embody the essence of India's youth strength.
Reflecting on the 21st-century mantra of India - Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, and Jai Anusandhan, PM Modi emphasized the nation's collective departure from the inertia of the status quo. Highlighting India's ascent as the world's third-largest economy, he cited achievements like India's successful UPI system and the vaccination triumph amid the pandemic.
Addressing the young innovators and experts in various domains, the Prime Minister underscored the pivotal nature of the present era, asserting that it would chart the course for the next millennium. He urged them to grasp the uniqueness of this period, citing the convergence of multiple factors: India's status as one of the youngest nations globally, its reservoir of talent, a robust and steady governance system, a burgeoning economy, and an unparalleled focus on advancements in science and technology.
AIM of Smart India Hackathon
PM Modi told the young innovators that “the world is confident that in India it will find low-cost, quality, sustainable and scalable solutions to global challenges. Our Chandrayaan mission has increased the expectations of the world manifold” and asked them to innovate accordingly. Explaining the goal of Hackathong the Prime Minister stated “The aim of Smart India Hackathon is to solve the country's problems and create employment through solutions. Through Smart India Hackathon, the youth power of the country is extracting the Amrit of solutions for developed India.”
Number of teams in Smart India Hackathon 2023
He highlighted that the number of teams in 2017 stood at 7531, and this figure has witnessed a remarkable six fold increase, reaching 44617 teams in the current year. He also mentioned that this year 267,000 participants are poised to channel their creative energies towards the development of 51,000 new ideas.
