Supreme Court okays AICTE revised calendar for 2022-23 academic year
As per the revised AICTE academic calendar 2022-23, the last date for granting or refusing approval is now July 10, 2022, which was earlier April 10, 2022.
As per a report published in Live Law, the Supreme Court has approved the revised academic calendar proposed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the 2022-23 academic year for admission to engineering and other courses.
The council said the dates fixed by the court for the AICTE academic calendar 2022-23 could not be adhered to due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.
A Bench comprising Justices L Nageswara Rao and BR Gavai said, “There has been a delay in processing applications, hearing appeals and in making admissions in the last two years in view of the pandemic. Periodically, at the request of AICTE last dates according to the schedule fixed by this court has been extended even for 2021-2022. As institutions have been closed, inspection by expert committees, verification and scrutinies could not be held within time. Taking into account the extraordinary situation…we approve the revised calendar which is proposed by AICTE in the proposed terms.”
