IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) finally visited IIIT Basara, also known as Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), to announce several measures for the betterment of the campus. The minister pledged to address the issues of the students and said he will visit the campus once every six months to address all issues. IIIT Basara students had been protesting for better living conditions at the institute. Food cooked on the campus mess was one of main issues faced by the students.

Laptops for students

Addressing the students, the minister said that he will visit the campus with Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy in November to distribute laptops among the students.

KTR requested Sports Minister V Srinivas Goud to construct a mini stadium with INR 3 crore, which will come up in six to eight months. The remaining three announcements are a state-of-the-art digital lab with 1,000 computers, 50 additional model classrooms and an innovation lab at the university.

He urged the students to take collective responsibility to maintain facilities at the university. As part of it, he pitched for Shramadhanam once a month. He also requested RGUKT Vice Chancellor V Venkata Ramana to establish an innovation lab on the campus to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship among students.
