The Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Skill India Centre (SIC) in Angul, aimed at providing young individuals with the necessary employability and contemporary skills to enhance their job possibilities both within India and internationally.
The centre aligns with the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aiming to establish an adaptable and vibrant educational framework that equips learners to tackle real-world challenges. With Odisha's youth brimming with potential, the provision of training in various job roles will be instrumental in honing their skills, encouraging innovation, and shaping a New India that harmonizes with the ambitions and objectives of its young workforce.
While speaking at the event, Dharmendra Pradhan said that the inauguration of Skill India Centre in Angul marks a commendable initiative by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, reflecting a steadfast commitment to broadening the scope of skill development and educational infrastructure in the region. He further added, “Around 1000 children will annually benefit from skill enhancement programs offered at the centre, thereby contributing to personal growth as well as the nation's economic development”.

By providing students with skills that directly match industry needs, Skill India Centres (SICs) will hasten the recruitment of skilled talent, cultivate a workforce prepared for the industry, and stimulate economic expansion. This skilled workforce will not only streamline operations but also enable industries to swiftly adjust to evolving market conditions, thereby boosting their productivity and efficiency.
Furthermore, these centres are poised to play an instrumental role in shaping education by actively engaging with industry experts to design curricula that evolve in tandem with changing industry needs. It promotes standardization, preserves the rich cultural heritage of traditional crafts and generates employment opportunities that meet the demand for skilled talent across diverse industries.
The centre represents the Government's dedication to fostering technology-driven growth and creating a transformative effect across multiple industries by merging theoretical education with real-world, practical experience. It will offer training in a wide variety of ten courses, encompassing roles such as Story Board Artist, Graphic Designer, Stitchers for Goods and Garments, Cutter for Goods and Garments, Helper, Barista Executive, Food & Beverage Service Associate, and IT Helpdesk Assistant.

Furthermore, the NSDC's approach of delivering specialised training and assigning a Centre Manager highlights its dedication to offering education and skills training that meets industry standards.
