NEET-PG counselling
The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) that had been protesting over the delay in NEET-PG counselling hailed the Supreme Court permitting its resumption for admissions for 2021-22. It said it is a “historic day” for the medical fraternity of the country.

Members of the association ended their protest on December 31, 2021, after receiving assurances from the federal government that their demands would be considered.

Today, 7th January, 2022, is a historic day for the medical fraternity of the nation. The agitation called by FORDA to expedite NEET-PG counselling 2021 commenced on November 27, 2021, following multiple delays and postponement of the counselling,” FORDA said after the Supreme Court allowed resumption of medical counselling for NEET-PG admissions for the 2021-22 and upheld the validity of 27 per cent OBC quota.
FORDA had earlier moved the Supreme Court saying there is an urgent need to start the NEET-PG counselling and that the revision of OBC and EWS reservation criteria will result in further delay.
FORDA had said every year nearly 45,000 candidates are chosen as postgraduate doctors by way of NEET-PG, but the process was halted in 2021 because the exam was delayed till September due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The federation thanked all resident doctor associations, Indian Medical Association, Delhi Medical Association, and the media, and residents who supported when the third wave of COVID was looming large.
