The Board has also released a list of equivalency of Classes 10 and 12 of foreign boards with similar classes of CBSE on its website, i.e. cbse.gov.in.

Students from foreign boards willing to take admission to schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) do not require any prior approval. According to the latest update, CBSE has confirmed that schools from foreign boards do not require any prior approval to take admission in CBSE schools. The Board has also released a list of equivalency of Classes 10 and 12 of foreign boards with similar classes of CBSE on its website, i.e. cbse.gov.in.

If the list contains the name of the Board from where a student is coming to India, then the CBSE School can provide admission to the student (the student will be required to fulfill other eligibility criteria).  No approval from the board would be required for granting admission to the student of the foreign board.

CBSE in its official statement said, “In the post period of corona pandemic, many families are shifting to India cause of various reasons. Therefore, many students studying abroad on foreign boards are joining schools affiliated with the CBSE.  Keeping the current circumstances and problems faced by these students and their families, CBSE has decided that now onward, no such prior approval is required by the students from the board to seek admission in the schools affiliated to the CBSE.”

Earlier, students coming from the foreign boards had to apply seeking approval for admission in Classes 9 to 12 based on the equivalency. However, now with this development, the admission process for students coming from Foreign Board would be smoother.
