Himachal based Manav Bharti University sold over 45,000 fake degrees
Fake degrees were sold in 13 states for Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh depending on the nature of course.
Himachal Pradesh based private university, Manav Bharti University (MBU) sold over 45,000 fake degrees. The university’s fake degree racket is not just limited to India, it even sold to people from foreign countries.
As per Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to track the fake degree racket of MBU, each degree offered by the university was sold between ₹1 lakh to ₹3 lakh, depending on the demand of the course. The probe has revealed that some of the candidates applying for jobs in gulf countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and also places like Singapore bought fake degrees from the Manav Bharti.
The SIT has taken into its custody all the records of Manav Bharti University from 2009 to 2019. Over 3000 students who are already enrolled with the university are worried about their future. These students have submitted a memorandum to the university administration and also decided to fast the SP office, Solan for a day.
The SIT in its investigation so far from various evidence has found that over 45,000 fake degrees were sold by the university and its touts spread in various states, the number is likely to increase as nearly 5,000 more degrees are being probed.
It has also come to light that MBU even sold degrees of courses which it did not offer it did not offer. The SIT has written to other state governments to share the details of fake degrees identified by them. As per reports, fake degrees were sold in 13 states, which include Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala for Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.
In Karnataka alone, over 250 fake mark sheets of various courses have been found.
