Himachal Pradesh CM distributes smartphones among students to facilitate online learning

In order to facilitate online learning, the state government had also launched several online teaching programmes such as Har Ghar Pathshala, Digital Sathi Programme, etc. to ensure that pandemic does not hamper students' learning process. 

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday distributed over smartphones to the students of various schools for online education. The step has been taken by the government with an objective to facilitate e-learning in schools. The smartphones were donated by the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association of human values. Lauding the commendable services rendered by the Art of Living Foundation for the people amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, The Chief Minister appreciated said, "the Foundation and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar not only helped the suffering humanity during the pandemic but has also educated them regarding stress management and enhancing body immunity by pranayam."

In order to facilitate online learning, the state government had also launched several online teaching programmes such as Har Ghar Pathshala, Digital Sathi Programme, etc. to ensure that pandemic does not hamper students' learning process, the minister informed. The minister further stated that the initiative also witnessed contributions from several NGOs, religious organizations and individuals who came forward to donate the mobiles to the poor students so that they can continue online classes. Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur also appreciated the services provided by the Art of Living Foundation.

Schools across the country are again facing closure amid the rising cases of the novel coronavirus and its highly infectious Omicron variant. Various state governments have ordered its public and private schools to shift back to online mode of teaching and learning until the situation comes under control.

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry has announced the commencement of the vaccination process for COVID-19 for children between the age group of 15 years to 18 years. CBSE and CISCE have come forward to direct heads of its affiliated schools to encourage children to get vaccinated ahead of term01 board exams.
