HM Suryavanshi joins as NIT Hamirpur Director
Suryavanshi was earlier working as a professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur. He has replaced Lalit Awasthi, who was holding the additional charge of the Director's post.
HM Suryavanshi has joined as the new Director of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur. He was earlier working as a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur.
He has replaced Lalit Awasthi, who was holding the additional charge of the post of the Director. Awasthi has now joined as Director of NIT Uttarakhand. Awasthi took over the charge of the Director’s post after Vinod Yadava was removed from the post in October 2020. Yadava joined the institute as Director on March 23, 2018, for a period of five years, but he was terminated from the service before the completion of his term following several complaints against him.
NIT Hamirpur student bags INR 1.05 crore offer from Amazon
NIT Hamirpur is currently holding a recruitment drive for the 2021-22 academic year. Till now, seven offers of more than INR 1 crore have been received for international roles. The highest package offered so far is INR 1.5 crore and the average package has increased by 35 per cent.
Nirav Gante, a final-year computer science and engineering student from Solan, has received an annual salary package of INR 1.05 crore from Amazon Luxembourg. Apart from him, six other students of NIT Hamirpur have bagged packages worth more than INR 1 crore with international companies. NIT Hamirpur is one of the 31 NITs in the country which came into existence as Regional Engineering College on August 7, 1986. It was upgraded as National Institute of Technology in June 2002.
