BHU to train affiliated college teachers for one year
Banaras Hindu University has introduced the Annie Besant College Teacher Exchange Program, an initiative designed to enrich the educational landscape under the Institution of Eminence Program of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Named in honor of Dr. Annie Besant, a renowned freedom fighter and a strong advocate for a robust Indian education system, this program not only commemorates her pioneering spirit but also strengthens the academic ties between BHU and its affiliated colleges: Arya Mahila PG College, DAV Degree College, Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya, and Vasant College for Women.
Under this program, faculty members from these affiliated colleges will have the invaluable opportunity to spend an academic year as visiting faculty at BHU. During their tenure, they'll gain valuable academic, research, and professional exposure, thus enhancing their own growth and enriching the educational ecosystem. BHU will treat visiting faculty on "deputation" status, providing salaries and allowances as per Central Government regulations. The program fosters collaboration, diversity, and research advancements, enabling visiting faculty to engage in joint research initiatives with BHU's esteemed faculty and contribute to ongoing projects.
The program places a strong emphasis on integration, with host teachers from BHU assigned to support visiting faculty members. They will have access to BHU's state-of-the-art facilities, including extensive libraries, well-equipped laboratories, and cutting-edge research centers.
Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain, the Vice-Chancellor of BHU, notes that this program is designed to foster collaboration and expand the benefits of BHU's initiatives to a broader community. He states, 'Annie Besant's visionary spirit inspires us to strengthen academic bonds and promote excellence in teaching and research, while also focusing on the capacity building of teachers from affiliated colleges. The Annie Besant Visiting Faculty Program stands as a testament to our commitment to higher education and collaborative partnerships.'
