BHU to Upgrade Hostel Facility by 5000 Students; Plans to Renovate Over 300 Housing Units
Along with upgrading the BHU hostel facility, the authorities affirm robust funding for student and faculty development and institutional growth.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is planning for an extensive infrastructure development plan for the university students primarily related to hostel facilities. This plan is to increase the hostel capacity by 5,000 students. Along with increasing the hostel capacity, the authorities intend to renovate nearly 330 housing units, revamp existing academic buildings, and modernize classrooms along with laboratories and office spaces.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain, while addressing the faculty members at Swatantrata Bhawan on Friday said about the BHU's potential to influence higher education across India. He further highlighted about the university's progress across academic areas and correlated advancements. Jain's motive was to expand the university's capacity to adapt to the evolving higher education landscape. He emphasized on attracting top talent including including faculty, staff and students and offering them facilities to foster an environment of excellence.
Prof. Jain stated, “To achieve our goals, we need skilled individuals with a positive attitude and integrity who work collaboratively toward common objectives. This requires forging partnerships with other organizations and engaging external experts.” He emphasized the importance of diversity in both people and ideas to enhance productivity and achieve better results.
BHU Latest News 2024: Scholarship for Students
In order to offer underprivileged students the opportunity they deserve, the Pratidana scheme has introduced 300 new scholarships, each worth Rs. 25,000 per annum.
Meanwhile, BHU has extended offers to 22 professors through its Visiting Faculty Program, including 15 from prestigious global institutions. Over 250 faculty members have received a grant of INR 2.2 crores in international travel support, while 1,348 educators have utilized more than INR 14.8 crores from the Professional Development Fund under the IoE scheme.
