Bomb Threats in Delhi: Lady Shri Ram, Sri Sri Venkateswara Colleges Targeted

Earlier this year, on March 7, Ram Lal Anand College, another college affiliated with the University of Delhi, was also targeted. 

Two of Delhi University colleges in the nation's capital have received bomb threats. The Delhi Fire Service reports that on Thursday, threatening calls were made to Sri Sri Venkateswara College and Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College at Delhi University.

The latest threats come after a run of similar cases in which bomb threats have been made in the last few days against hospitals and schools in Delhi. Security worries increased when a bomb threat was sent by email to the Police Control Room in North Block, which houses the Ministry of Home Affairs, on Wednesday.

Earlier this year, on March 7, Ram Lal Anand College, another establishment affiliated with the University of Delhi, was also targeted. A staff member received a bomb threat call at around 9:34 AM, leading to an immediate evacuation of students. The police, accompanied by ambulance services, Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS), and Bomb Disposal Teams (BDT), conducted a thorough search of the premises but found no suspicious items. Additional security measures were implemented following the incident, according to DCP South West Rohit Meena.

This pattern of threats is not limited to educational institutions. Last month, Delhi Public School was evacuated following a bomb threat, which was later deemed false after a comprehensive search. Furthermore, a popular eatery in Bengaluru experienced an explosion on March 1, initially suspected to be an accidental blast but later confirmed as a bomb explosion, injuring five people, including café staff.

Authorities are on high alert, and investigations are ongoing to identify the source of these threats and ensure the safety of all institutions and public places in the city.
