Central University of Tamil Nadu, Johnson Electric Signs MoU for Mechatronics Diploma Programme

Central University of Tamil Nadu has launched a three-year Mechatronics Diploma Programme, a flagship programme by Community College at CUTN, in association with Johnson Electric.

Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) has signed a MoU with Johnson Electric. The collaboration between CUTN and Johnson Electric has launched a three-year Mechatronics Diploma Programme. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed for a duration of five years in order to launch a comprehensive Mechatronics Diploma Program, which will be one of the flagship courses offered by the Community College at CUTN.

Johnson Electric will train 35 students into a three-year diploma program for academic session 2024-25 and focus on the manufacturing of micro motors for major automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). The programme will be conducted in Chennai, where students will be provided with accommodation, meals, a learning environment and industrial exposure to the students. Johnson Electric caters to industry giants such as Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Mahindra, and Tata Motors to name a few.

Stipend for Mechatronics Diploma Programme

Students from disadvantaged backgrounds will be given priority for this programme. The students will be provided with a monthly stipend starting at INR 12,500 in the first year and INR 13,000 and INR 13,500 in the second and third years respectively. Students will receive a diploma certificate once the programme is completed. 

Dr M. Krishnan, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Tamil Nadu, shared his delight saying "This collaboration will not only benefit the students but also contribute significantly to the growth of the automotive industry in India. We are committed to nurturing young talent and providing them with the skills and opportunities to succeed and contribute to the nation's development."
