The forms for CUET will be out this month and examinations will be conducted in July.

The University of Delhi has constituted a National Testing Agency Coordination Committee for CUET as it plans to admit students in undergraduate courses this year through entrance test instead of cut-off marks.

The NTA Coordination Committee comprises faculties and officials representing the departments of administration, examination, admission and students’ welfare of the Delhi University. DU which is one of the most sought after universities in the country has decided to admit students in UG courses through Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET).

According to CUET Nodal Officer Dr Phool Singh, who is also Dean of School of Engineering and Technology, Central University of Haryana (CUH), the forms for CUET will be out within a week and examinations will be conducted in the month of July.

Dr Subhas Sarkar, Minister of State for Education while replying to a question on whether the admission to the Delhi University will be done only through the CUCET and whether NTA has designed any curriculum for the entrance test in the University informed that the University of Delhi has constituted a National Testing Agency Coordination Committee for CUET.

Sarkar said: “In pursuance of the National Education Policy, 2020 the University of Delhi has decided to take admission in Undergraduate programme through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) being conducted by the NTA.”

CUET in 13 Languages

The CUET would be held in 13 languages and the students studying in various language mediums would also be able to compete. The CUET is expected to reduce the burden on students, universities and colleges and the entire education system.

The students of different Boards would be assessed at the same level, giving them equal opportunity. Students may apply to more than one Central University, as per his/her choice, with one application form, thereby reducing the financial burden and increasing access.

“The syllabus is based on the understanding of the subject at class XII level,” said Sarkar.

However, DU is yet to receive samples of question papers from the NTA, which is likely to be a mix of questions from what the students have studied in their Class XII itself.

After the examination students would have the option to provide their colleges of preference and that colleges will not be releasing their preferred ranks.
