CUET PG 2022: DU, AMU, PU opt out of CUET, will hold its own entrance exam
Delhi University Registrar Vikas Gupta said that CUET- PG is not mandatory for central universities. As a result, the varsity has decided to opt out of it for this session.
CUET PG 2022: Delhi University, Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) have announced that they will not admit postgraduate students for the academic year 2022-23 through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) PG score 2022. The varsities have clarified that they will admit students through their respective common entrance exams.
Delhi University Registrar Vikas Gupta said that CUET- PG is not mandatory for central universities. As a result, the varsity has decided to opt out of it for this session, as reported by Financial Express. "The decision to adopt CUET-PG would be discussed with the academic council and a decision taken. He confirmed that the varsity would continue with its existing entrance test for postgraduate courses," he said.
As per the National Testing Agency (NTA), 35 central Universities have opted for CUET to admit students to their postgraduate courses. Meanwhile, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) official said that the varsity has decided to opt out since its admission process for postgraduate entrance exam is already underway. "The academic council will take a decision on the adoption of CUET-PG for the next academic session. However, a date for the meeting was yet to be decided," he added.
Punjab University also clarified that for this year the admission to its postgraduate courses will be conducted Punjab University Common Entrance Test.
Earlier, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had announced that the CUET-PG will be conducted for postgraduate admissions in 42 central universities from the academic session 2022-23. However, the universities are not bound to implement CUET-PG, unlike the mandatory CUET-UG system.
