Chandigarh University
Chandigarh University has done extremely well in terms of NIRF ranking this year by jumping from 52 position in NIRF Ranking 2021 to standing at 29 position this year. Chandigarh University offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Admission to various courses is done through the Chandigarh University's own entrance exam; i.e. CUCET (Chandigarh University Entrance Test). CUCET is conducted in two phases, i..e. CUCET Phase-I and CUCET Phase-II. While speaking about the admission process, R S Bawa. Vice Chancellor, Chandigarh University, told Shiksha that “We have our own entrance test and CUET is not applicable to us. All those who wish to apply can register for CUCET by visiting our official website; i.e. cuchd.in and get admission based on merit. Students will also be awarded scholarship on the basis of their CUCET score as explained on our website.”
Jain University (Deemed-to-be-University)
Jain University is known for not only being a pioneer in academics but also in sports. While the university is enrolling students this year based on merit, it is mulling adopting the CUET from next year onwards. Speaking on the same, Jain University, VC, Raj Singh, told Shiksha, that “CUET will bring all the students on the same platform. It will take out the burden on the students to perform exceptionally well in their board exams. CUET will allow them to get enrolled in the University of their choice on the basis of their knowledge and talent and not just the board exam marks. We wanted to adopt CUET this year, however, we couldn't, but we are looking forward to having it next year as part of our admission process. With so many education boards in the country, putting everyone at par by considering their board exam marks for admission is unfair. With CUET, students from all the boards will get an equal chance to enroll in any university of their choice. However, I would like to request students to not run behind the coaching centers as they will only help you work towards short-term goals. Students should rather work on clearing their concepts and nurturing what they have learned rather than blindly following the coaching centers.”
