Delhi Govt releases ₹100 Cr for 12 DU colleges

Delhi government has allocated ₹400 crore, which is more than three times as compared to ₹ 132 crores in 2014-15, for these colleges.

Delhi Government has allocated ₹400 crores this year to the 12 Delhi University colleges funded by it. The state government has also released the grant to these colleges fully funded by the Delhi government.

As per the information shared by Delhi Education Minister, Atishi, the state government has allocated ₹400 crore, which is more than three times as compared to ₹ 132 crore in 2014-15.

A statement issued by the Aam Aadmi Party teachers wing stated that the Education Minister Atishi announced that the interest of teachers and students is paramount and hence, the grant of ₹100cr has been released for 12 Delhi Govt 100% funded colleges.

AADTA has welcomed this step and demanded immediate approval of the list of GB Members for 28 Delhi Government Colleges by EC of DU.
The then Education Minister Manish Sisodia sent the list six months ago on 28th January 2023. On 27th January 2023, he wrote for implementing the Delhi Govt's policy of Absorption of Ad-hoc and temporary teachers. There has been repeated demand by Delhi Government not to hold the interviews till Delhi Govt nominees were included in GBs. But the university administration did not heed, which resulted in massive displacements to the tune of 75% of ad-hoc and temporary teachers.

The 12 Colleges of Delhi University, fully sponsored by the Delhi Government are Bhaskara Charya College of Applied Science, Mahirshi Balmiki College of Education, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Maharaja Agrasen College, Keshav Maha Vidyalaya, Acharya Narendra Dev College, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Dean Dayal Upadhyaya College, Shaheed Raj Guru College, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Indira Gandhi Institute of Phy. Education and Sports Science and Bhagini Nivedita College.
