Delhi Sports University successfully concluded Round 2 - Delhi Trials of Admissions at Delhi Sports School, marking another milestone in its mission to identify and nurture young sports talent in the country.

In response to the nationwide invitation for registrations, the school received an overwhelming response with 15,000 aspiring student athletes for admission in classes VI to IX. The top 5,000 students participated in Round 1 i.e. the pan India talent scouting program. These talent scouting camps were conducted across eight states covering all zones of the country- Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Jharkhand, and showcased a diverse array of exceptional talent from various sporting disciplines.

From this initial talent pool, the top 1250 student-athletes advanced to Round 2 - Delhi trials. This phase included advanced sports science testing and sports-specific trials in the ten Olympic sports offered by Delhi Sports School: athletics, archery, badminton, boxing, lawn tennis, table tennis, shooting, swimming, wrestling, and weightlifting. The students displayed their utmost dedication and skill, giving their best performances to earn the opportunity to join Delhi Sports School.

Following the completion of Round 2, the school has welcomed the best 200 student-athletes among them as the inaugural batch of Delhi Sports School, subject to the final stage of medical examination. The school will offer a range of facilities and support, including fully supported accommodation, quality education, state-of-the-art sports infrastructure, training from expert coaches, and a sports science center to enhance their sporting performance.

Dr Karnam Malleswari, the first Vice Chancellor of Delhi Sports University and the first Indian woman Olympic medalist said that Delhi Sports University is dedicated to identifying and nurturing grassroots sports talent in the country. She emphasized the university's commitment to creating a comprehensive sports ecosystem that encompasses sports science, infrastructure, training, and curriculum. This holistic approach aims not only to develop outstanding athletes but also to address the mental health challenges faced by sports persons in balancing their sporting careers with their academic requirements in formal education systems.
